The Little Thompson Water District is a a not-for-profit, user-owned utility overseen by an elected Board of Directors. We were formed as a Special District of Colorado in 1960 to provide high-quality drinking water to rural residents. We began serving domestic water to a 300-square-mile area in Larimer, Weld and Boulder counties in 1962. At the beginning of 2008, we served approximately 7,500 tapholders.
Our service area is generally bounded by the City of Loveland on the north, Longs Peak Water District on the south, the City of Greeley, the South Platte River and the St. Vrain River on the east, and the foothills on the west. It expanded to include the former Arkins Water Association in 1999 and the Town of Mead in 2002.
